5th Annual Sport Compact
Spring Nationals
The
5th Annual Sport Compact Spring Nationals were held April 30th and May
1st, 2005 at Raceway Park in Old Bridge Township. Due to the rain
track officials were forced to close the entrance gates for the
Saturday portion of this event. As the rain continued into
Sunday morning, the second day of the event seemed compromised as
well. At about 10:15 AM the weather changed and the rain
stopped. To the delight of all race fans, the gates were open for
what would turn into another drag racing record breaking event at
Englishtown. The day was filled with all sorts of activities for
the race fans including thrilling bracket Racing, an exciting review of
female beauty in the Bikini Contest, and Dyno testing were just some of
the things to see in between some of the best NHRA racing action of the
2005 season. One of the record breaking runs was made by Justin
Humphreys in his Lexus GS300 with his 7.33 pass.
Other
notable performances included Jesus Padilla running a track record time
of 9.89 later on in the day Jesus went on to win the "All Motor"
class.
Luis Corujo also established a personal best 1/4 mile time of 8.39 in
his 2RZ-FE race machine of www.paradiseracing.com
